Last week, I had the pleasure of conducting a carcass management training in Montana for 30 swine producers and industry representatives. This hands-on session, supported by the National Pork Board and the Montana Pork Producers Council, was a great success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the producers. Special thanks to my co-trainers, Mr. Tommy Bass from Montana State University and Dr. Thomas Wurtz of Passion for Pigs Veterinary Service.
Our training program equips swine producers with vital skills to manage daily and catastrophic mortalities, enhancing environmental sustainability and herd health. This training is crucial for maintaining biosecure operations and preparing for potential foreign animal disease outbreaks. I look forward to returning soon for another round of training to continue empowering the swine industry with these essential skills.
